Pero no todo son malas noticias, la NBC News también probó tres cartuchos de cannabis de un dispensario legal en California, todos de diferentes fabricantes. Los tres regresaron limpios, libres de "metales pesados, pesticidas o solventes residuales como la vitamina E".

But without federal regulation for cannabis cartridges, and with the legality of cannabis so inhibited, it is difficult to regulate dangerous additives in this product. As the federal government struggles to regulate this emerging market quickly, it is offering a simple solution that should work for everyone: reconsider buying on the black market.

"If you are thinking of buying one of these products on the street, from the back of a car, in an alley, or if you are going to go home and make modifications to the product yourself using something you bought from a third party or from a friend, think twice" said Mitch Zeller, director of the FDA´s Tobacco Products Center recently.
