Varios parlamentarios italianos y entre ellos, Leonardo Aldo Penna del Movimiento 5 Estrellas (M5s), apuestan por el autocultivo y la legalización en Italia. Los diputados enviaron una carta en esa dirección a su Presidente Giuseppe Conte en la que se adhieren más de 100 parlamentarios.
Una auténtica declaración de intenciones es la que el parlamentario Leonardo Aldo Penna, quien en un video en las redes sociales presentó “Cultivo cáñamo en casa”. En el video realizado por el parlamentario, el político comienza con la plantación de una semilla y advierte a los “amigos”: “Procedemos a plantar la semilla de cannabis, y cuando salgan los primeros brotes seguiremos informado”.
Un grupo de más de una docena de diputados habría lanzado una singular iniciativa para hacer campaña por la legalización del cannabis; cultivar cannabis en casa.
“En estos tiempos de fragilidad económica como la que estamos atravesando, no se puede permitir ignorar los beneficios que la legalización traería a nuestro país”, dice Antonella Soldo, coordinadora de Meglio Legale, la campaña pro legalización que proporcionó las semillas a los diputados.

El grupo de diputados por la legalización del cannabis en Italia está compuesto por parlamentarios del Movimiento 5 Estrellas, Partido Demócrata y de Más Europa. A finales del mes de Junio se reunieron en Montecitorio con asociaciones pro-cannabis para pedir la legalización de la planta. En este grupo reivindicativo se encontraba Matteo Mantero, signatario de un proyecto para legalizar el cannabis en Italia y un fuerte activista en el tema del CBD .
En la carta que más de cien parlamentarios le han enviado al Presidente Italiano Giuseppe Conte, le piden legalizar el cannabis recreativo, una aclaración más que necesaria sobre todo lo relacionado con el CBD o cannabis light (bajo en THC). Y también, potenciar todo lo referente a la nueva industria que rodea la planta del cáñamo industrial. El cultivo del cáñamo en un contexto ecológico esta más que demostrado. Las ventajas de este cultivo de cannabis con bajo contenido en THC y su industria, es capaz de suplantar a otros muchos cultivos menos generoso con la naturaleza.
La producción de cáñamo para muchas áreas industriales también va acompañado de beneficios en muchos aspectos; es un cultivo ecológico y natural, se producen materiales biodegradables, biodiesel, limpia las tierras, captura de dióxido de carbono y necesita menos agua.
Una sola hectárea de cáñamo produce tanta fibra utilizable como cuatro hectáreas de árboles. Y con la diferencia de que solo en cien días ya tenemos la cosecha de cáñamo, cosa que no puede ser con los árboles. El cultivo de cáñamo mejora la calidad del suelo al absorber los metales pesados, renueva sus nutrientes y evita la erosión de la zona. Además los restos de su cultivo fertilizan la siguiente cosecha.
Los amplios cultivos de cáñamo protegerían los bosques de madera y ayudaría a luchar contra el cambio climático gracias a que la planta tiene una gran absorción de dióxido de carbono (CO2) nada más comienza a crecer.
Además y anteriormente, Italia llegó a ser una potencia mundial en el cultivo y producción de cáñamo. Ahora con el movimiento en esa dirección y apoyado por tantos grupos de la sociedad, puede ser el comienzo y sin marcha atrás de una nueva era del cannabis y cáñamo italiano.
El tiempo dirá, aunque muchos políticos ya se está subiendo a este barco que parece que al final puede llegar a buen puerto.

The cannabis or hemp plant is very resistant versatile and its cultivation on a large scale would provide an infinity of benefits in many areas, mainly in nature.
In Italy there is great support from deputies for the regulation of cannabis. The letter sent to the Italian Prime Minister together with the initiative of several parliamentarians self-cultivating cannabis are an example of this. The large proliferation of light cannabis retail stores across the country, along with the huge movement for hemp cultivation are also signs that something is moving in that direction.
The decriminalized self-cultivation and with the support of the Italian justice and in the times that we live together, to a pandemic that “has devastated” both strong and weak economies; more than ever that legalization of cannabis would be of great help.
In addition and previously, Italy became a world power in the cultivation and production of hemp. Now with the movement in that direction and supported by so many groups in society, it may be the beginning and without turning back of a new era of Italian cannabis and hemp.
Time will tell, although many politicians are already getting on this ship that seems to be able to reach a good end.
