La semana pasada hubo una manifestación en la capital de Ucrania frente a la oficina central del Presidente en la que se pedía la legalización del cannabis medicinal.

En Ucrania, los manifestantes pidieron urgentemente la necesidad de una regulación legal de la circulación controlada de cannabis y sus derivados para necesidades científicas y médicas,informó la prensa local.

 “Hacemos hincapié en que la inacción e ignorar las necesidades y derechos de los pacientes, en particular en el tratamiento de medicamentos a base de cannabis, es contrario tanto a la Constitución como a los derechos humanos fundamentales “, dijeron los organizadores del evento.

Más de cien personas pidieron al Presidente, al gobierno y a los parlamentarios que tomasen medidas para garantizar el acceso a los pacientes al tratamiento con medicamentos de cannabis. Los manifestantes solicitaron el informe público del ejecutivo central sobre los motivos del incumplimiento de la Estrategia de Política de Drogas del Estado.

En la Marcha por la Legalización del Cannabis, habían varios grupos representativos como grupos de pacientes, personas mayores, grupos políticos y en el que el lema era “¡Nuestro derecho es vivir sin dolor!”. La manifestación en Kiev fue en frente de la Oficina del Presidente de Ucrania y transcurrió sin ningún incidente.

Los varios grupos de manifestantes exigían una regulación del cannabis medicinal por parte del gobierno ucraniano. En ella se solicitaba un acceso a la circulación del cannabis y sus derivados para uso medicinal además de apoyar la investigación con la planta.

La manifestación reunió y fue coorganizada por varios colectivos de enfermedades graves como la Comunidad ucraniana de personas con esclerosis múltiple o Mujeres contra el Cáncer. También, la asociación de ucraniana de personas con drogadicción y la Comunidad Athenea. Veteranos por el cannabis medicinal  y colectivos civiles como Iniciativas por la Ciudad y Transformaciones Sociales, Estudiantes por la Libertad, Otel`Club, Partido del hacha Demócrata y el Partido Verde fueron otros grupos que se dieron cita en la manifestación.

El fundador de la organización Athena y Mujeres contra el Cáncer dijo que los pacientes con cáncer en otros países pueden adquirir o hacer aceite de cannabis. También, pueden aliviar el insomnio y los dolores y esto no puede hacerse aquí por que no está legalizada en Ucrania.

La pandemia de coronavirus fue la causante de que la manifestación reivindicativa pro cannabis no fuese una marcha por la ciudad. El acto cívico se centró en la Oficina Central del Presidente.

Durante todo el acto, la música también fue protagonista. El Club de Otel fue el encargado de proporcionar varios DJs y músicos que animaron todo el acto y que no contó con ningún incidente. La calle Bankova del centro de Kiev y donde se sitúa la sede del Presidente, tomó un aire festivo y siempre guardando las medidas de seguridad por la pandemia.

Las últimas encuestas realizadas en Ucrania sobre el apoyo de sus ciudadanos a la legalización del cannabis medicinal mostraron un 50 por ciento a favor. Es cierto que su Presidente electo no ha mostrado como una prioridad el tema del cannabis medicinal. Es por ello, que los organizadores de la manifestación presionan y solicitan el informe del Gobierno por el que no se legaliza. Muchos ucranianos estaban esperando con el nuevo Gobierno del presidente Zelensky un cambio de dirección, pero… no parece ser así.

También, hace unos meses el Ministro del Interior Arsen Avakov

“Sobre el uso médico de la marihuana. No tenemos apoyo legislativo, ni procedimiento, ni filosofía sobre este tema. El gobierno anterior lo discutió ” por comentarios “, sin una sola documentación. Voté en contra porque no estaba claro qué se proponía. Si esta pregunta se plantea nuevamente al Ministerio de Salud, lo disuaría razonablemente hasta que desarrollemos un enfoque constructivo unificado “, dijo el ministro.

Un reconocido oncólogo ucraniano de Kropyvnytskyi , Andriy Gapdashnikov, también pidió al presidente ucraniano Volodymyr Zelensky legalizar el cannabis medicinal en una carta.

“Le pido que preste atención al destino de los pacientes paliativos en nuestro país. Por favor, brinde a los médicos la oportunidad de tratar”

En Ucrania y en consonancia cada vez más con muchos países, la legalización o acceso al cannabis medicinal por pacientes esta en alza. La manifestación pacífica frente a la Oficina Central del Presidente de Ucrania fue un acto reivindicativo que busca poner esta demanda en la actualidad del país.

Last week, there was a demonstration in the capital of Ukraine in front of the President´s headquarters, calling for the legalization of medical cannabis.

In Ukraine, protesters urgently called for the need for legal regulation of the controlled circulation of cannabis and its derivatives for scientific and medical needs, local press reported.

 "We emphasize that inaction and ignoring the needs and rights of patients, particularly in the treatment of cannabis-based medications, is contrary to both the Constitution and fundamental human rights," said event organizers.

More than one hundred people calling on the President, the government and parliamentarians to take measures for patients´ access to treatment with cannabis medications. The protesters will request the public report from the central executive on the reasons for non-compliance with the State´s Drug Policy Strategy.

In the March for the Legalization of Cannabis, we had several representative groups such as patient groups, the elderly, political groups and in which the motto was "Our right is to live without pain!". The demonstration in Kiev was in front of the Office of the President of Ukraine and passed without incident.
The various groups of protesters demanded a regulation of medicinal cannabis by the Ukrainian government. It requested access to the circulation of cannabis and its derivatives for medicinal use in addition to supporting research with the plant.

The demonstration brought together and was co-organized by several serious disease groups such as the Ukrainian Community of People with Multiple Sclerosis or Women Against Cancer. Also, the Ukrainian Association of People with Drug Addiction and the Athenea Community. Veterans for medical cannabis and civil groups such as Initiatives for the City and Social Transformations, Students for Freedom, Otel`Club, the Democratic Ax Party and the Green Party were other groups that gathered at the demonstration.

The founder of the organization Athena and Women Against Cancer said that cancer patients in other countries can purchase or make cannabis oil. Also, they can alleviate insomnia and pain and this cannot be done here because it is not legalized in Ukraine.

The coronavirus pandemic was the reason why the protest against cannabis was not a march through the city. The civic act focused on the President´s Central Office.

Throughout the event, music was also the protagonist. The Otel Club was in charge of providing several DJs and musicians who animated the entire event and who did not have any incident. Bankova Street in the center of Kiev and where the President´s headquarters are located, took on a festive air and always kept the security measures in place for the pandemic.

The latest polls in Ukraine on the support of its citizens for the legalization of medical cannabis showed 50 percent in favor. It is true that its President-elect has not raised the issue of medical cannabis as a priority. That is why the organizers of the demonstration pressured and requested the Government´s report, which did not legalize it. Many Ukrainians were waiting with the new government of President Zelensky for a change of direction, but ... it does not seem to be so.

"On the medical use of marijuana. We have no legislative support, no procedure, no philosophy on this issue. The previous government discussed it "by comments", without a single documentation. I voted against because it was not clear what was being proposed. A renowned Ukrainian Kropyvnytskyi oncologist Andriy Gapdashnikov also asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to legalize medical cannabis in a letter.

"I ask you to pay attention to the fate of palliative patients in our country. Please give the doctors a chance to treat. "

In Ukraine and increasingly in line with many countries, legalization or access to medical cannabis by patients is on the rise. The peaceful demonstration in front of the Central Office of the President of Ukraine was a claiming act that seeks to present this demand in the country today.
