Italia, como la gran mayoría de países, está teniendo prolemas a raíz del COVID-19 . La indrustia del cáñamo con el “cannabis light” podría ser un gran bálsamo para la creación de puestos de trabajo, pero parece que esta posible solución regulada tendría difícil “llegar a buen puerto”.

Un estudio de la Universidad de Messina, estimó que 345.000 empleos se podrían generar en Italia si se legalizara la planta más castigada de la historia.

“Desafío a los economistas a encontrar un sector que pueda dar las mismas perspectivas”. Dijo a la radio Citta Fujiko, Mateo Gracis, activista pro-cannabis italiano y autor del libro “Cáñamo: una historia increíble”.

También, habló sobre las razones que llevaron a la prohibición del cáñamo a mediados del siglo pasado. Éstas fueron gracias a las presiones de los grupos de presión estadounidenses de petróleo, productos farmacéuticos y papeleras; fueron realmente económicas. “No pudieron encontrar otros puntos de apoyo para prohibir el cáñamo que perturbaba sus negocios, enfatiza el autor, se concentraron en el uso recreativo, el único que podría representar un problema”.

En los últimos meses en Italia, el consumo de cáñamo light tubo un aumento del más del 30%. Durante el confinamiento por la pandemia, las ventas de estas flores se multiplicaron por tres, de hecho, se vendió más en el mes de Marzo que en todo el 2019. Recordamos que este cannabis light o cáñamo no supera el 0.5% de THC.

Este cannabis con bajo contenido en thc se ha hecho muy popular gracias a su alto contenido en CBD, sustancia que determina un agradable efecto relajante en la persona que la toma. El CBD no es una sustancia psicotrópica y por el contrario tiene beneficios significativos como efectos ansiolíticos y que reducen la ansiedad. Además es un potente antioxidante,  es antiinflamatorio, anticonvulsivo y antipsicótico.

El cannabis light en italia desde que entró en vigor la ley 242/2016 , permite el cultivo de cannabis con una concentración de THC inferior al 0,6%. Además de cultivarse,  también  puede comercializarse. El cáñamo legal no es lo mismo que el cannabis terapéutico; serían 2 productos totalmente diferentes y que se producen para cuestiones diferentes, además de regirse por diferentes textos reglamentarios.

El joven productor italiano de cáñamo, Lucio Boschi, propietario de Veridia, dedicada al cultivo del cáñamo y con 100 hectáreas en la provincia de Pescara, dice en una entrevista en OPEN.

“En Italia tenemos el mejor clima del mundo para cultivar cáñamo, incluso los estadounidenses quieren invertir en nuestro país. Y en cambio, ¿qué pasa? Que no somos libres de ejecutar, que estamos perdiendo oportunidades e inversiones únicas en el extranjero (en su empresa invirtió un fondo holandés-canadiense). Este es un mundo listo para explotar, incluso podríamos ser comparados con el sector de la alta moda o el de los vinos”.

                   “Tenemos el mismo potencial, podríamos emplear a miles de personas, podríamos ser los líderes en el cultivo del cáñamo. Y en cambio, no tenemos leyes claras, permanecemos en la sombra y, mientras tanto, seguimos financiando el mercado negro, en manos del crimen…” “En resumen, el nuestro podría ser el sector impulsor de nuestro país, especialmente en un momento de crisis como esta debido a la emergencia de salud del Coronavirus”

Durante estas semanas en Italia ha habido un gran revuelo para que el Gobierno legisle y aclare de una vez por todas esta nueva industria del cannabis light. Aunque el Gobierno italiano debe legislar en consonancia con la Unión Europea, se espera un guiño del ejecutivo para esta nueva industria capaz de recaudar y de crear puestos de trabajo.
