We have gotten up with the latest studies on cannabis and this time it seems that THC could be a great ally against COVID-19.

Taking the background, an investigation on  Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) caused by staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) showed how the mice that were administered THC had lower mortality rates and suffered weaker symptoms when they were created the syndrome.

ARDS is caused by a bacterial superantigen produced by SEB. The effect of this antigen triggers an exaggerated response with massive inflammatory processes that immediately damages the body. This situation is known as a cytokine storm.

In the study, 100% of the mice that were exposed to the bacterial toxin SEB died of respiratory distress. Just the opposite of those who were given THC who managed to fight the disease and did not die from it.

These data are very promising to alleviate the effects produced by SEB by reducing mortality from ARDS.

And there we have the question, will it be just as efficient against COVID-19? It seems that yes, one of the problems that COVID produces is the same excessive response, the cytokine storm. Researchers are sure that this relationship will mean a great advance in the fight against the pandemic.
