Canadian Healthcare Professionals May Take Psilocybin to Know Its Effects

In Canada, they take into account details as important as that their doctors can legally consume psychedelic mushrooms, in order to understand how they affect patients who have them prescribed and recognize the effects on them.

In August 2020, several terminal cancer patients were legally prescribed psilocybin. These patients requested it to cope with the last moments of their lives in better conditions.

This opened the door to other patients, who, without being in a terminal state, requested the inclusion of psilocybin in their treatment. The increase in these patients prompted Health Minister Patty Hajdu to take action on the matter and listen to requests from doctors to be able to consume the substance.

This will allow the training of professionals essential for psilocybin therapy to be administered safely to patients. Dr. Sean O"Sullivan, a physician and psychotherapist, understands that it is difficult for a practitioner to understand the complexities of psychotropic therapy if they have not "visited those realms."

These actions are meeting the rejection of certain parts of society, citizens with moral prejudices who do not believe that the benefits of these therapies are greater than the problems they are going to bring, especially if it is the professionals who are going to consume the substance without the long-term effects being known with certainty.

The minister understands these objections but states that the evidence exists, that these authorizations will serve precisely as field research providing invaluable data to the clinical trial.

A very interesting topic. We will closely follow this news to inform you promptly.
