El CBD ayuda a combatir bacterias resistentes a los antibióticos

yheder/cannabis" title="" target="_blank">A new study developed by the University of Southern Denmark is opening the door to the use of CBD products to help antibiotics fight resistant bacteria.

The researcher Janne Kudsk Klitgaard, author of the study, verified that the combination of CBD and batricin used against the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, a typical resistant pathogen found in hospitals and crowded areas.

The researchers found that the joint use of CBD and antibiotics reduced the ability of the bacteria to replicate, the cell division of the pathogen was not done normally because the expression of certain key genes, necessary for autolysis division, were drastically reduced. In addition, the bacterial membrane became unstable so they were more vulnerable to the antibiotic.

Very promising data because bacterial resistance can pose a difficult medical challenge if no alternative pathways are found.

In another study, currently under review, conducted by the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences at McMaster University in Canada, researchers found that another compound in cannabis, ÇCBG, cured mice with MRSA with an efficacy similar to that of obtained with vancomycin, the drug most used as a last line of defense against pathogens resistant to other drugs.

We will be very aware of these promising studies and the inclusion of cannabis products in common medication.
