El lunes pasado volvió a salir a la palestra el debate en el Parlamento sobre la participación de Tanzania en la industria del bhang (Así es como llaman ellos al cannabis).

Varios parlamentarios presionaron al Gobierno tanzano para que éste pudiese hacer negocios o permitiese que se pudiesen hacer en el país  El Sr. Jumanne Kishimba, parlamentario, comenzó el debate hablando de un informe presentado por el Comité de Agricultura, Ganadería y Agua.

“Nuestros países vecinos Malawi, Zambia y Uganda ya están creando un industria con el cultivo, producción y comercialización del cannabis. Esta planta ahora se utiliza en la industria farmacéutica y otros sectores productivos como la alimentación y la cosmética”.

El Presidente de la Asamblea Nacional, Sr. Job Yustino Ndugai, permitió que Sr. Jumanne Kishimba continuara con su argumento.

“Hace poco estuve en Canadá. El cannabis es un negocio muy grande … puede ser uno de los principales cultivos comerciales si está bien controlado, monitoreado y moderado”, señaló.

"por lo tanto, solicito al gobierno que otorgue un indulto de seis meses para que cualquier persona con acciones de bhang se presente y lo venda al gobierno antes de que baje el precio mundial. Esta puede ser una venta oficial por la cual el gobierno emite recibos a los vendedores. El gobierno obtendrá ingresos y los productores / vendedores también “, concluyó .

También aprovechó la oportunidad para pedirle al Ministro de Interior, George Simbachawene, que liberase a sus votantes arrestados por participar en la producción de bhang.

Aunque la solicitud fue rechazada por el Ministro de Estado en la Oficina Principal, Jenista Mhagama, quien declaró que el gobierno no había permitido la producción de bhang por ahora.

"Therefore, I ask the government to grant a six-month pardon for any person with bhang shares to come forward and sell it to the government before the world price falls. This may be an official sale for which the government issues receipts to sellers. The government will earn income and producers / sellers too"   he concluded.

He also took the opportunity to ask Interior Minister George Simbachawene to release his arrested voters for participating in the production of bhang.

Although the request was rejected by the Minister of State in the Main Office, Jenista Mhagama, who declared that the government had not allowed the production of bhang for now.
