The Spanish cannabis fair held in Barcelona has been canceled due to the wave of coronavirus that sweeps the world.
Fear, uncertainty and concern. These are the three words that could describe the feelings experienced by the Coronavirus in recent weeks. In the case of those attending Spannabis, we could help add anger. Angry at the lack of preventive measures to avoid canceling the fair in just two days of its celebration, with the stands almost set up, hotels paid for and many workers who have been in Cornellá since yesterday supervising the assembly of their exhibitors.
Any company in the sector knows how important this fair is.
It is the most important cannabis event in Europe, and brands take the opportunity to launch new products, promote their services or do business with other companies. So the last thing exhibitors wanted was for it to be canceled. But health is above all, and a single Coronavirus contact on the premises can lead to many employee losses, with factories closing and the quarantine of all those who have had contact with those infected.
The organization has released a statement that reads as follows:
"As you know, the President of the Generalitat of Catalonia, Quim Torra, the Minister of Health, Alba Vergés, and the Minister of the Interior, Miquel Buch, have compared this morning to announce" extraordinary measures "for the Covid-19 coronavirus.
Much to our weight, the complications of more than 1,000 people in open or closed spaces have been prohibited, with the intention of avoiding the transmission and increase in cases of Covid-19 coronavirus in Catalonia.
At all times we have ensured caution and safety and, as we have previously announced, we will adhere to the statements of the competent authorities.
We have done everything possible so that Spannabis can celebrate normally, but given the circumstances it has not been an alternative.
Spannabis is postponed for fall. We will inform you about it very soon".
